1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Alhambra Library

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program develops early literacy and school readiness skills by encouraging good reading habits at an early age.  Reading to a child starting at a young age will help them learn new words, build math skills, prepare for school, and develop a life-long love of reading.

This year round program is open to all children who have not yet started their first day of Kindergarten (ages 0-5 years). After each 100 books you read together, stop by the library to place your name on our Wall of Fame and receive a prize. You can either log your books on a paper reading log or online using Beanstack.
