Join the Alhambra Library and local partners this April, May, and June to learn how to bike smart! These educational and fun events for the whole family will take place at our local Alhambra Parks and at the Library. Registration is not required.

The Cub House of San Marino will present six bike repair workshops for beginners and advanced riders.

Bringing your own bicycle is recommended, but optional.

In these hands-on sessions for all ages, you will learn how to:

  • fix a flat tire

  • grease a bike chain

  • adjust seat height

  • check brakes

  • properly wear bike safety gear

¡Aprende a reparar y mantener tu bicicleta! Todas las edades son bienvenidas.

  • revisar los frenos

  • usar correctamente el equipo de seguridad de la bicicleta

 

Note: we will have a limited supply of replacement tires, tire tubes, bike grease, and chains during these workshops.

*April 23rd: Special Día de los Niños celebration featuring a bilingual music concert, story time, crafts, book giveaways, and a sweet treat (while supplies last).

**May 14th: We are partnering with the Alhambra Police Department, who will handout helmets for kids (limited supplies, child must be present).

Bike Safety for Beginners Saturday, May 21 10:30am - 12pm Alhambra Library, 101 S. First Street, Alhambra

 

 

Do you want to make bicycling part of your daily travel routine, but you’re not sure where to start? This will be a 1 1/2 hour in person class that will help you improve your bicycling skills and how to ride on city streets safely. You will also learn an overview of the rules of the road, how to plan your route, and tips and tricks to make bicycling for everyday travel safe and convenient. The Alhambra Police Department will handout helmets for kids (limited supplies, child must be present).

Además, aprenderás una generalización de las reglas de tránsito, como planear tu ruta, y trucos y consejos para hacer el ciclismo de día a día seguro y conveniente. La policía de Alhambra entregará cascos de bicicleta para niños (cantidad limitada, el niño debe estar presente).

 

Bike Safety for Experienced Riders Saturday, May 28 10:30am - 12:30pm Almansor Park, 800 S. Almansor Street, Alhambra (near basketball courts)

 

 

This will be a 2-hour Rules of the Road class that will help you learn how to bike on the city streets safely. We will teach you the rules of the road and we will also practice on bike skills to make you a better rider. The Alhambra Police Department will handout helmets for kids (limited supplies, child must be present).

Está clase en persona de dos horas sobre las reglas de la calle te ayudará andar en bicicleta de forma segura. Nosotros te enseñaremos las reglas de la calle y tambien practicaremos habilidades en bicicleta para hacerte un mejor ciclista. La policía de Alhambra entregará cascos de bicicleta para niños (cantidad limitada, el niño debe estar presente).

 

Bike Safety for Street Riding Saturday, June 4 10:30am - 1pm Alhambra Park, 500 North Palm Avenue, Alhambra

 

 

Do you want to be more comfortable and confident when cycling on city roads? This Streets Skills Class is a free 2 ½ hour class for adults and teens to practice safe riding with a group of beginning cyclists. You’ll learn cycling etiquette, practice riding in a real-world setting, and make pit stops to review best practices while riding.

¿Quieres sentirte más seguro y cómodo cuando andas en tu bicicleta en calles de la cuidad? Está clase principiante de dos horas y media sobre las habilidades en las calles para adultos y adolescentes te enseñará cómo practicar la conducción segura de bicicletas en grupo. Aprenderás etiqueta de ciclismo, practicarás en un escenario realistico, y aprenderás mejores prácticas del ciclismo con paradas medidas para evaluar las lecciones aprendidas.
